I'm Jaspreet and I am interested in the research topics of fairness and explainability of machine learning models. I am particularly excited about research in the Vision and Language field surrounding biases in datasets and multimodal architectures. Currently, I am a Research Assistant in the Vision, Language and Learning Lab, working with Prof. Vicente Ordóñez on exploring gender biases in Visual Recognition Models. Currently, I am a Master's student studying Computer Science at the University of Virginia and I will be graduating in December 2021. I received my Bachelor of Science at the University of Virginia in Computer Science as a Rodman Scholar. Throughout my time at UVA, I have worked in three different labs and have gotten experience in multiple subfields of machine learning such as natural language processing, computer vision and vision and language. My time at Vimeo working as a Machine Learning Researcher on the Search and Recommendations team allowed me to further translate my knowledge from identifying biases in visual recognition models to search engines, thus generalizing the notion of bias to a different domain.
